Our interest in helping the users of our library increased during the last years, and this due to the fact that began to offer them a modern way of access to information - online catalogue.

In cataloguing the items we had to combine traditional cataloguing rules with the rules of our software (VUBIS). The purpose was the users' access to our OPAC in as many ways we could, to satisfy their need of information. And this was possible by using the index of uniform headings for personal author and for institution. In this way the users can have access not only to the author's name as it appears on the title page but to his/her pseudonim or to his/her name as he/she is known as a uniform heading. This way gives the users the possibility to find not only the author's works in his/her honour; correspondence with some other personalities, interviews, etc. List for reference, subject bibliographies, dictionaries can be viewed using different combinations in accessing the OPAC. Indeed, the cataloguer's interest is not only to copy the title page but to create these files from which the user finally finds the information quickly.
